TrustDefender wins prestigious Australian ICT industry’s iAwards

Sydney Australia, May 31, 2007 – TrustDefender was last night recognised with a prestigious iAward in the Financial Applications category at the 2007 iAwards which were held in the Grand Harbour Ballroom at Sydney’s Exhibition and Convention Centre.

“After so many years of work to develop and commercialise the TrustDefender suite of products, it’s wonderful to be recognised as an iAward winner for the innovation and potential that TrustDefender has to improve security worldwide in the online environment for consumers and enterprises alike,” commented Ted Egan, CEO and Co-founder of TrustDefender.

“We were up against so many other amazing examples of Australian ICT ingenuity, so it is a great thrill to have had the opportunity to be measured against our peers and to have been recognised in this way. We’re heading back to the United States next week and will be in the UK and Europe in two weeks’ time to promote and sell our solutions to financial institutions to online merchants and consumers. I can safely say that we will be travelling overseas with our iAward firmly at our side to give us that extra boost of confidence and status.”

Mr Egan went on to explain, “Today, the growth in online fraud is occurring due to the increasing incidence of highly sophisticated trojans, viruses and rootkits which operate on all sorts of computing devices. The user will never be able to detect these sorts of nasties by simply using the current crop of browser based phishing filters, anti-virus, firewall or anti-spyware tools.”

“TrustDefender checks the user’s PC or mobile computing device security health before they commence any online activity, to ensure that the computer being used is safe and secure and their transaction won’t become a victim of the online fraudsters or identity thieves. Everyone who is banking online, paying bills or even shopping online needs to be able to get much better protection,” he concluded.

Attacks on individuals, customers and consumers are costing organisations billions of dollars in the damages due to loss of or damage to the corporation’s reputation, brand names, consumer trust and loyalty, intellectual property in addition to any negative impact on the price of stocks and shares.

TrustDefender’s team recognised that there is really only one solution to the problem – move security beyond the traditional enterprise environment and integrate the consumer’s PC into the overall security chain. Here, the bank, financial institution, eGovernment or online merchant can then employ a rigorous white-listing method for online transactions to ensure security.

Today, TrustDefender is the only solution capable of doing this for consumers and for banks, financial institutions, eGovernment, online merchants and any other company which relies on users interacting with them online.

Each year, the Australian Information Industry Association stage the iAwards program to provide Australian ICT innovators with national and international recognition and increased brand awareness for their new, leading edge ICT innovations.

The iAwards promote the impact that ICT makes across all sectors of the Australian economy and encourage the industry’s continued growth and development.
